Fire Chief Daryl Osby spoke to the audience. Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas chatted with residents. Station 58 Engineer James Harrell and crew along with Explorer Post members made sure everything ran smoothly.

The upbeat, professional sounds of the band had visitors clapping for more. Showcased by Brotman Medical Center, the hospital also contributed smoke alarms and fire extinguishers that were handed out to lucky visitors.

Neighbors were amazed when the Fire Station 58 team literally took apart the roof and sides of a car in scant minutes with the jaws of life, circular saw, and power tools.

Firefighters gave CPR demonstra- tions on dummies. Many signed up for a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) April class to be held at the Ladera Senior Center. It is never too late to learn what to do and how to do it if a major earthquake were to hit in any of our areas.
